AAR Committees and Groups

Members volunteer their time to further the work of the AAR and serve fellow members by standing for election as officers and members of the board of directors; serving on committees and working groups, including task forces and juries; leading Program Units as chairs and steering committee members; and serving in one of the nine AAR regions as officers.

The AAR's many working groups include juries for AAR grant and award programs, specially commissioned task forces, and numerous committees that serve the needs of AAR constituents, public programming, and the academic study of religion.

Each year, the AAR issues a call for members to nominate persons to fill open positions on standing committees and juries. AAR members may nominate themselves or others.
