The Committee on Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce that Miguel De La Torre has won the 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award, which recognizes the importance of teaching and honors outstanding teaching in the field.
De La Torre is professor of social ethics and Latinx studies at Iliff School of Theology and earned his PhD at Temple University. His teaching inspires students to engage with issues of social justice in a wide variety of teaching settings, including experiential learning and community immersion, and encourages students to build reflective practices that lead to social change.
As part of this recognition, De La Torre will be invited to speak at a Special Topics Forum during the 2021 AAR Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
