There are countless ways for you to contribute and give back to AAR besides financial contributions.
Below, please select which activities you might be interested in. We will reach out with more details about our current needs.

Volunteer with AAR

AAR offers many opportunities for members to volunteer their time in support of our professional association and learned society. In addition to longer term involvement in Program Units/Seminars or Working Groups/Juries, below you will find opportunties to contribute a modest amount of time (from a few minutes to a few hours) in support of our community. Please check as many as you wish and we will contact you once these kind of opprtunities become available. Thank you for your support of our community.

Please select the ways you would be interested in sharing your voice and ideas with AAR

Join a focus group/give feedback about a new social media or membership campaign [1-2 hours]

Serve as beta-tester for a new app, process, form, and provide feedback [1 hour]

Review specific AAR resources for new members or new meeting attendees and provide feedback from your experience and perspective [1 hour]

Share a written testimonial: Submit a short teaching tip, research tip, or professional development recommendation for AAR communications [1-2 hours]

Record a brief video testimonial about the value of AAR membership for use in recruitment efforts [5-10 min]

Please select the ways you would be interested in connecting and engaging with AAR members

Talk/Write to a new member welcoming them to AAR (email or phone) [15-20 minutes]

Call some people from a provided list and ask them questions about their membership experience (script provided) [1-2 hours]

Call some people from a provided list and ask them to donate to AAR (script provided) [1-2 hours]

[For those whith prior experience serving on a committee, jury, or task force:] Assist a new leader/member of a jury/committee with orientation and answer questions [1-2 hours]

[For those with experience in regional leadership] Contact members who are interested in getting more involved in the regions [1 hour]

[At Annual Meeting] Attend a new member orientation breakfast, welcome attendees, introduce yourself, and help new members make connections [2 hours]

[At Annual Meeting] Staff the membership booth to answer basic questions from a member’s perspective and encourage attendees to connect with membership staff. [1-3 hours]

Identify and suggest people within your professional circles who might be a good fit for AAR membership and engagement (as prospective members or contributors to specific programs and initiatives)

Please select the ways you would be interested in sharing your skills and talents with AAR. (We will acknowledge all contributions that are used in AAR websites.)

Social Media Ambassadors: I can be an ambassador who promotes and reshares AAR social media posts and information in my networks [1-2 minutes, ongoing]

Graphic Designers: I know some graphic design and can help create some images or visual assets (create without AI, please) [1-2 hours]

Artists: I can create a custom cartoon, illustration, or drawing that AAR can use, with attribution - (create without AI, please) [1-3 hours]

Readers/Podcasters: I can interview award winners and create a short podcast [2-3 hours]

Photographers: Take headshots or profile photos for members at the Annual Meeting [2 hours]

Photographers: Serve as a volunteer photographer and (at the Annual Meeting or regional events) take photos of members during receptions, networking events, or sessions for use in AAR communications and archives [1-2 hours]
