The purpose of this program is to open up conversations about applied religious studies/theology to AAR members — including graduate students, early career scholars, and seasoned faculty — with members of the Applied Religious Studies Committee and guests. The program’s mentors and guests have experience teaching using applied approaches and/or engaging their scholarly skills and knowledge in diverse career settings, like non-profits, education, etc.

For this program, a cohort of 8-12 mentees will meet with the mentor(s)/guest(s) for three one-hour sessions that include a webinar-style presentation followed by discussion. The group will discuss a variety of applied approaches and diverse careers, many of which will be shaped around the cohort’s interests.
