At its November 2001 meeting, the Board of the AAR passed the following policy on student memberships:
Members may join or renew at the student discount rate for no more than seven membership years in total (not necessarily sequential);
After those seven membership years at the student discount rate, members must renew at the professional member rate regardless of student status;
The policy will begin with the 2003 membership year, and will be retroactive;
Gratis student liaison memberships will apply toward the seven-year limit on student memberships.
