Schedule

  • When will the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting take place?
    • The dates of the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting have yet to be announced.
  • Will this online meeting replace the traditional in-person November meeting?
    • No. This online meeting is in addition to our November meeting.
  • How long will sessions be during the online meeting?
    • Most sessions will occur between 11 AM and 9 PM ET and will be 75 minutes.
  • Will online sessions be scheduled in different time zones so that scholars across the globe can participate?
    • Yes, our session schedule will try to reach as many people across the globe as possible.

Program

  • What programming will be available during the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
    • Like our in-person November meeting, programming for the Online June Sessions will include innovative and prestigious scholarship created through our AAR Program Units and Committees, business meetings, and presidential plenaries. In 2024, we had nearly 70 sessions, including committee sessions, workshops, and a presidential plenary.
  • Will the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting include opportunities for networking and mentorship?
    • Yes. On our platform (available through app, desktop, and mobile), you will find a "Networking" button underneath "Meeting Resources," which will take you to a number of networking options including a chatroom, various discussion boards, and a Zoom lounge you can join to meet people. You can also peruse the attendee list on this page.
  • How can I submit a paper or session proposal for the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
    • The Call for Proposals (CFP) for the Online June Sessions will open at the same as the in-person November annual meeting in late January 2025.
  • Which program units are participating in the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
    • We can share more information on this in 2025. For 2024, we had over 60 program units participating in the CFP.
  • Which part of the Annual Meeting is better, online or in-person?
    • Both online and in-person meetings will maintain the same rigorous review and selection process we have always had. The online sessions are another space to present innovative research and scholarship, accessible to all.
  • Will this online meeting be cohosted with the Society of Biblical Literature?
    • No. Unlike our in-person November meeting, our online meeting is hosted by AAR only.

Registration

  • What is the cost of registration for the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
    • Registration for the online meeting will be on an income-based sliding scale. More information about the rates will be available in 2025.
  • Are there any discounts for registering for both the Online June Sessions and the in-person Annual Meeting?
    • Yes, you will receive a discount on the Online June Sessions by registering for both AAR meetings. However, you will need to register for the 2025 November Annual Meeting first, then use the discount link in your November Annual Meeting confirmation email to receive $40 off the Online June Sessions.
  • Do I have to be a member to present at the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
    • Like our in-person November Annual Meeting, AAR membership is required to present.

Platform

  • How do I access the Online June Sessions platform?
    • A few weeks before the Online June Sessions begin, registrants will receive an email with instructions for how to access the online platform. If you don't receive that email, please reach out to annualmeeting@aarweb.org.
  • Will the online sessions be recorded for later viewing?
    • There will be some recordings available to AAR members for later viewing.
