Recent Changes in Higher Education and What We Can Do About It (Online June Sessions Free Workshop)

How can faculty and administrators respond to this moment of change in higher education? With the closures of departments, the impact of current policy shifts in funding for research and higher education, and the increased reliance on contingent labor; from students to those on renewable 9-month contracts — what can AAR members do to better understand these shifts? Equally important, what do we do about them?

AAR’s Academic Labor and Contingent Faculty Committee has invited Drs. Chris Bennett and Jeremy Cruz to offer a webinar that addresses these issues. Dr. Bennett, a former statistician for the US Department of Education, offers what the research and data shows is taking place across our institutions and within our ranks. Dr. Cruz, whose research focuses on labor and organizing, will offer tools and resources for faculty to address changing conditions within their institutions. The webinar will be facilitated by the Chair of the Academic Labor and Contingent Faculty Committee, Dr. Minjung Noh.
