The Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting will have everything you expect from our traditional annual meetings, including nearly 80 sessions and a presidential panel. Share innovative scholarship, network with colleagues and mentors, collaborate, and learn in a fully accessible environment. We also have a range of sponsorship opportunities available for those interested in being part of both AAR history and the evolution of religion scholarship.
Registration rates are income-based and there is also a discount available to anyone who registers for both the in-person November Annual Meeting and the Online June Sessions. Please note that to receive this discount on your Online June Sessions registration, you will have to register for the in-person November Annual Meeting first.

Program
Our Annual Meetings program brings together religion scholars from around the world to present innovative research. The program, created in part by our Program Units and Seminars, includes academic sessions, presidential and plenary sessions, committee sessions, and workshops. Check back for a full schedule. The Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting will also host a free pre-conference day with workshops and professional development opportunities.

When will the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting take place?
The Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting will be held from June 24-26, 2025 with a free pre-conference day on June 23.
Will this online meeting replace the traditional in-person November meeting?
No. This online meeting is in addition to our in-person November meeting, co-hosted with SBL.
When will registration open?
Registration will open in mid-April. Stay tuned for exact date.
How long will sessions be during the online meeting?
Most sessions will be 90 minutes.
Will online sessions be scheduled in different time zones so that scholars across the globe can participate?
Yes, our session schedule will try to reach as many people across the globe as possible.
What programming will be available during the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
Like our in-person November meeting, programming for the Online June Sessions will include innovative and prestigious scholarship created through our AAR Program Units and Committees, committee meetings, and presidential plenaries. In 2024, we had nearly 70 sessions, including committee sessions, workshops, and presidential plenary.
Will the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting include opportunities for networking and mentorship?
Yes. On our platform (available through the EventPilot app or browser), you will find a “Networking” button underneath “Meeting Resources,” which will take you to a number of networking options including a chatroom, various discussion boards, and a Scholars Zoom lounge. How can I submit a paper or roundtable proposal for the 2025 Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
The Call for Proposals (CFP) for the Online June Sessions is open at the same as the in-person November annual meeting, from late January to early March 2025.

What is new from last year’s online June sessions?
This year we will be offering a day of complimentary sessions that anyone can attend free of charge at the beginning of the conference on June 23.
Which part of the Annual Meeting is better, online or in-person?
Both online and in-person meetings will maintain the same rigorous review and selection process we have always had. The online sessions are another space to present innovative research and scholarship, accessible to all.
Will this online meeting be cohosted with the Society of Biblical Literature?
No. Unlike our in-person November meeting, our online meeting is hosted by AAR only.
Are there any discounts for registering for both the Online June Sessions and the in-person Annual Meeting?
Yes, you will receive a discount on the Online June Sessions by registering for both AAR meetings. However, you will need to register for the 2025 November Annual Meeting first, then use the discount link in your November Annual Meeting confirmation email to receive $40 off the Online June Sessions.
Do I have to be a member to present at the Online June Sessions of the Annual Meeting?
Like our in-person November Annual Meeting, AAR membership is required to present.
How do I access the Online June Sessions platform?
A few weeks before the Online June Sessions begin, registrants will receive an email with instructions for how to access the online platform. If you don’t receive that email, please reach out to annualmeeting@aarweb.org.
Will the online sessions be recorded for later viewing?
There will be some recordings available to AAR members for later viewing.
What is the registration cancellation policy for the 2025 June Sessions?
- May 1st, 2025 – All conference registration cancellations will be accepted and refunded in full until May 1st or can be converted to a donation to the AAR
- May 2nd – May 22nd, 2025 – All conference registration cancellations will incur an administrative fee of $50; alternatively, the full amount can be converted to a donation to the AAR
- After May 22nd, 2025 – No refunds will be issued after May 22nd
Access to session recordings from the June meeting will not be available once a cancellation is processed. Please send meeting cancellation requests to reg@aarweb.org. Registrations cannot be switched to another person’s name. Proof of payment may be required.

Please note that in order to register for either the June Annual Meeting or the November Annual Meeting, you NEED to login to our new system and reset your password in order to receive the member discounted rates. Please do this ahead of our registration deadlines in order to avoid any issues.

Registration for the online meeting will be on an income-based sliding scale with the following levels:

| $50,000 – $74,999 | $125 |
| $75,000 – $99,999 | $150 |
| $100,000 – $124,999 | $175 |
| over $125,000 | $200 |
The non-member registration rate is $250.
