About
The AAR seeks donations from members to support other members. These donations allow us to help members who have been unable to maintain their AAR membership due to adverse conditions. The grant is intended to assist lapsed members regain access to benefits such as discounted registration fees for the Annual Meeting, networking opportunities with colleagues around the world, and promotion of their work and achievements.
Grants may be awarded to those eligible (see below) and as long as funds are available based on prior donations.
Criteria
To be eligible for the Membership Support Grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- No current AAR membership. Previous AAR membership in past three years: (2024, 2023, and 2022) or new student in grad school or requesting an exception.
- Member category at the end of the most recent active membership period was Contingent, Applied Religious Studies, Independent Scholar or Student and
- Incurred loss of income or institutional support resulting in economic hardship
How to Apply
- Eligible lapsed members may submit only one grant application.
- Applications must be submitted via the online submission form. Emailed or hard copies will not be accepted.
