In this webinar, part of the Inclusive Pedagogy Webinar Series, participants will learn how to incorporate activist voices and practices related to disability into their teaching. Participants will learn how to help their students become leaders and allies within the disability community.

Webinar Presenters

Kirsty Jones  | Jones (she/her) is completing her PhD on disability in the Hebrew Bible at Georgetown University, and specializes in disability and “Mad” studies in the Bible.  With extensive practical experience in direct support and education with disabled people, Kirsty is passionate about ensuring equity in the classroom and equipping students to put their learning to work in their own communities.

Lorraine Cuddeback-Gedeon  | Cuddeback-Gedeon is currently the Director of Mission and Ministry at Mercy High School in Baltimore, MD. She completed both an MDiv (2012) and a PhD (2017) in religion and ethics at the University of Notre Dame. She has been published in the Journal for the Society of Christian Ethics, Practical Matters, and the Journal of Moral Theology. She has an upcoming book, The Work of Inclusion, that uses ethnographic research to examine the ethical thinking and agency of people with intellectual disabilities.

The Status of People with Disabilities in the Profession Committee (PWD) invites members of the American Academy of Religion to participate in four webinars designed to enhance competency in teaching topics related to disability as well as enhance accessibility in the classroom. Members who participate in all four webinars and complete evaluations of each will be receive an AAR/Committee on the Status of People with Disabilities in the Profession Certificate in Inclusive Pedagogy.
