Kristian Petersen Named AAR/OUP Book Series Editor 

Religion, Culture, and History

AAR is pleased to announce the new editor of our Religion, Culture, and History series with Oxford University Press.

Kristian Petersen is an associate professor in the department of philosophy & religious studies at Old Dominion University. He is the author or editor of four books that cover Islam in China, Muslims in the movies, and digital humanities in the study of religion. He has hosted podcasts for over 10 years with the New Books Network and Religious Studies News. With the American Academy of Religion, he has been on the steering committees for the Study of Islam Unit, the Religion, Film, and Visual Culture Unit, and the Contemporary Islam Unit; organized the DH pre-meeting THATCamp; served on the Editorial Board for Reading Religion, and co-wrote the "Guidelines for Evaluating Digital Scholarship." He is excited to take on this new role and support scholars working at the intersection of religious studies and cultural studies.
