Other Events

Other Events at the 2022 SBL & AAR Annual Meetings give you the opportunity to showcase your event to thousands of specialists in the study of religion and the Bible and registration is officially open.

Other Events meeting space rental remains low in cost – only $50 per 30-minute session time slot for requests submitted by July 7 and includes listings in the Online Program and mobile app, if desired. 

Please note that, with the exception of AAR RSOs and SBL Affiliates, SBL and AAR do not permit any Other Event sessions of a programmatic nature (i.e., scholarly panel or paper presentations) to occur during regular session times (Saturday - Monday, 9:00 am-11:30 am and 1:00 pm-6:30 pm, and Tuesday 9:00 am – 11:30 am) without special permission. This policy is to prevent any thematic conflicts between AAR and SBL sessions and Other Events.

Other Events Fees are based on the schedule below and are non-refundable. In addition to the Colorado Convention Center, we have six venues that we are utilizing for meeting space: Embassy Suites, Hilton Denver City Center, Hilton Garden Inn, Hyatt House and Hyatt Place, Sheraton Denver Downtown, and Sonesta Denver. Events will be scheduled in the venue that best suits your needs and based on available space. 

You will be notified via email per the dates below when your event has been assigned, and will receive the name of the venue, room name, audiovisual contact, and catering contact and menu so that you may make your arrangements directly with the appropriate contact.

Submit Your Other Events Request

 

  • If we receive your Other Events Request Form and payment by July 7:
    • Fee is $50 per 30-minute time slot
    • Event will be listed in the Program Book, Online Program and Mobile App
    • Confirmation of venue and room assignment will be emailed by August 12
  • If we receive your Other Events Request Form and payment by August 4:
    • Fee is $75 per 30-minute time slot
    • Event will be listed in the Program Book, Online Program and Mobile App
    • Confirmation of venue and room assignment will be emailed by August 19
  • If we receive your Other Events Request Form and payment by October 6:
    • Fee is $100 per 30-minute time slot
    • Event will be listed on the Online Program and Mobile App
    • Confirmation of venue and room assignment will be emailed by October 21

You will need the following information when completing the Other Events Registration: 

  • Event title and type 
  • Date and time 
    • Please note that sessions that are academic in nature will not be scheduled during the following times: 9:00 am-11:30 am and 1:00 pm-6:30 pm Sat-Mon, or 9:00 am-11:30 pm Tuesday.
  •  Estimated attendance 
  • Room arrangement:
    • Banquet: round tables with 8 to 10 chairs each 
    • Conference: conference table with chairs surrounding the entire table, no more than 20 attendees 
    • Reception: assorted tall and short cocktail tables for reception events 
    • Theater: rows of chairs with center aisle facing front for presentation
  • How the name of your event, day/date, time and location should be printed. If you wish to provide additional text, you may enter it during this registration process or email the text in a word document to [email protected]. No more than 200 words are permitted. You can also choose not to have your event listed.
