Add a Syllabus to the Project
The Syllabus Project is made possible by the voluntary contributions of teachers. The Project Editor encourages teachers to consider making some of the syllabi from their more successful courses available to their colleagues through this project.
Guidelines
Syllabus format will naturally vary from course to course, and from instructor to instructor. The Project Editor has no intention of requiring a uniform format from contributors, and would like the process to entail as little work as possible for the contributors.
The editor expects contributors to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Submit syllabi from courses you have already taught.
- Lightly edit your syllabi, if necessary, in order to make them comprehensible to a larger audience, e.g., adding specific titles to the videos you use, removing institution-specific instructions.
- Select categories under which your syllabi most naturally fit. Consult the Browse the Syllabi by Subject page of this site for categories which exist at present; feel free to suggest others.
- Complete the following information electronically, either adding it to the front of your
syllabus or including it in a cover email note (the information will then be added to your
syllabus):
- Instructor (name, with postal and email addresses)
- Institution (name, type e.g., private liberal arts college; public state/provincial university; Baptist seminary)
- Course level and type (e.g., yr. 2/lecture; M.A./seminar; Ph.D./seminar)
- Hours of Instruction (e.g., 36 hours, 3hrs/week over a 12 week term)
- Enrolment and year last taught (e.g., 15 students/1996; 120 students/1995)
- Pedagogical Reflections (i.e. a 100-250 word evaluative section, point form or paragraph, that addresses pedagogical concerns; for instance: What were you trying to accomplish in this course? What worked particularly well for you, what did not, and why? How successful were the assignments, readings and audio-visual aids?)
Submissions
Syllabi may be submitted in one of the following forms:
- a link to an html (Web) file
- an attachment to an e-mail message (in the native format of your word processor)
- a file on a 3.5" floppy disk formatted for IBM-compatible computers
Please submit your syllabus/syllabi to:
